Classic British Motorcycles
The Triumph T120 650 cc Bonneville was the epitome of the great British
Motorcycle. It was a brilliantly engineered bike, its pedigree dating back
to Edward Turner 's 1937 Parallel twin design. It first appeared back in
1959 in the famous 'Tangerine Dream' guise . Developed from the Tiger
T110 the bike was named after the famous Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah
USA. Early models were of pre-unit construction (separate engine and
gearbox) which changed in 1963 to an all in one engine/ gearbox 'unit'
construction model. The best year models of all 'Bonnies' is considered the
68-70 era of the marque after which the 'unpopular' - 'Oil in The Frame'
models were introduced. From 1973 the Bonneville's designation changed
to the T140 along with a capacity change to 750 cc . The 'Bonneville' name
lives on today with models from the 'New Triumph' Hinckley factory gracing
motorcycling roads around the globe.
